The growth story gets the board\u2019s attention. Who\u2019s accountable for the technology behind that growth gets less.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In some growing healthcare organizations, the answer is uncomfortable: there is no senior technology owner clearly visible at the leadership level.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>What a missing technology owner signals<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One version of this pattern shows up during acquisitions or rapid expansion \u2014 a leadership page with a full roster of clinical, operations, and finance executives, and no named CIO, CTO, or VP of IT anywhere on it. Sometimes that\u2019s simply because the role sits one level down and doesn\u2019t make the public page. A decade ago, the technology function mostly kept the lights on. Today it\u2019s the thing that must absorb every acquisition\u2019s legacy systems, hold every patient record securely across a growing footprint, and keep pace with a board that wants AI in the strategic plan.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When there\u2019s no one accountable for that at the leadership table, the work doesn\u2019t stop \u2014 it just gets distributed across people who didn\u2019t sign up to own it. IT ends up reporting into finance, or operations, or whoever has the most bandwidth that quarter. Each of them can reasonably take it on for a while. None of them is the right permanent owner.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>Where the risk shows up<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a CFO or CEO watching the growth numbers, the risk isn\u2019t abstract.
